Content Management System (CMS) Development in Nepal

A content management system (CMS) is a collection of procedures used to manage work flow in a collaborative environment. The procedures are designed to:

• Allow for a large number of people to contribute to and share stored data
• Control access to data, based on user roles. User roles define what information each user can view or edit
• Aid in easy storage and retrieval of data
• Reduce repetitive duplicate input
• Improve the ease of report writing
• Improve communication between users

In a CMS, data can be defined as nearly anything - documents, movies, pictures, phone numbers, restaurant menu, scientific data, polls etc. CMSs are frequently used for storing, controlling, revising, semantically enriching, and publishing documentation. Content that is controlled is industry-specific. For example, entertainment content differs from the design documents for a fighter jet. There are various terms for systems (related processes) that do this. Examples are web content management, digital asset management, digital records management and electronic content management. Synchronization of intermediate steps, and collation into a final product are common goals of each.

A CMS is Web Based Application through which a owner or the visitor can add/edit/remove content, picture, movie, contact information of the friends, menu of the restaurant, voting polls etc from the website. Its not necessary for the owner or visitor to have a knowledge of web and html for this. A user of CMS can modify content in his/her website from anywhere net is accessible. Its not necessary for him/her to use own computer to modify contents in the website.

Depending on the type of CMS some restriction is provided to users and visitors. A president of the company may have full right to add/edit/remove content from the CMS, similarly a staff may have the only right of editing content in the website, he/she may not have the full access of removing content from a CMS.

Developing a CMS is not a one man task. A team of Web Designer, Web Programmer and System Analyst is required for this, and I have a team for this. We have experience of developing CMS for different organizations. Previously we have developed a CMS for a Restaurant, Construction company, Real state Business, News and Portals, Photo gallery etc.
